Importing Vehicles into Venezuela Just Became Easier

Venezuelan ministries of Finance, Commerce, and Industry released new standards which will rule the import of vehicles for individuals or companies with noncommercial purposes.

The most important part of this new process is the exemption of the imports license. Also eliminated were “any other requirements, certificate, permission or registration certificate”. Now you need only to present the Certificate of Origin and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

You can import new cars of any brand or model, vehicles for transportation of goods, other than pickup trucks and tractors.

People can buy a car every three years and must make a sworn statement of the source of funds. The statement must include a description of the vehicle, the value in USD, and identification of the source of funds (which must specify financial institution, holder, and account numbers). For corporations, there are no limits on quantity of vehicles that can be imported.
